Coordinator of Spartan Academic Support Services (SASS)
These services will include, but are not limited to: provide intense monitoring and academic support for at-risk student-athletes, assist with student-athlete specific course registration, assist in the academic coaching of student-athletes for designated assigned sport programs, develop and oversee programming/initiatives/events, participate in recruiting visits with prospective student-athletes, and other duties as assigned.
The Coordinator will interpret, analyze and monitor academic progress of student athletes; assess student-athlete overall academic performance and its impact on progress toward graduation and NCAA eligibility; maintain knowledge of all NCAA and University rules concerning academic standing and eligibility requirements.
In addition, the Coordinator will also be responsible for assisting the Assistant AD of Spartan Academic Support Services with the coordination of Student Development and implementation of the Spartan Shield Program. Coordinator will serve as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Advisor.
Candidate must possess a passion for the holistic development of student-athletes. Candidate must be detailed oriented, have excellent communication skills and meet deadlines.
A bachelor’s degree is required.
Master’s degree is preferred.
Previous experience in counselor education, teaching or athletic academic advising at the University level is preferred.
