Elon University is seeking a Director of Annual Giving/Director of the Phoenix Club. The Director of Annual Giving/Director of the Phoenix Club will report to the Assistant Athletic Director for Development and will serve as the director of the athletics annual fund on behalf of the Department of Athletics and University of Advancement for Elon University. The successful candidate will assist in the management and operation of the Phoenix Club.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Acting as annual fund director; direct all aspects of annual giving for athletics • Coordinate all solicitation, cultivation, stewardship, and donor relations, including fund drives • Perform monthly visits and actively solicit donors and potential donors • Assist with and improve Phoenix Club stewardship program • Oversee season ticket donation requirement process and assist with all ticket operations as they apply to the Phoenix Club • Oversee Phoenix Club website • Directly oversee priority point implementation for priority seating and parking for football, basketball, and post-season events • Assist in the planning and organization of special events, including annual auction (Night of the Phoenix), home and away game receptions, and other fundraising activities • Develop and propose strategies for solicitation of annual gifts – recommend specific purpose and level of gift; identify cultivation plan and subsequent solicitation • Actively participate in Phoenix Club Advisory Board meetings • Work collaboratively with and in support of volunteers, development and advancement staff, and Elon constituents to cultivate and solicit donors for athletic priorities • Work closely with the Athletics Advancement team to exceed campaign fundraising goals; participate in University Advancement annual fund meetings to represent athletics annual fund • Assist with and attend Elon events including but not limited to athletic events, Family Weekend, Homecoming, and alumni/parent receptions (on campus and regionally) • Supervise Phoenix Club staff members • Other duties as assigned
• Bachelor’s Degree • Three to five years of fundraising experience • Ability to understand the needs and interests of donors in order to develop relationships between them and the University • Successful experience in developing cultivation and solicitation strategies • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated record of completing assignments • Strong organizational, writing and communication skills, with attention to detail and upbeat positive attitude • Must be willing to travel extensively
