The Associate Director of Academic Support/Director for Football Academic Performance serves as an advisor, facilitator, and academic support person for student-athletes transitioning from high school through graduation. This individual will monitor the academic performance of football student-athletes, promote their educational and co-curricular experiences, implement appropriate academic intervention strategies, track continuing eligibility requirements established by the NCAA, conference, and the University. Additionally, this individual will communicate consistently with coaches and staff, and assist in recruitment activities. This individual must be a team-oriented leader, comfortable working within a collaborative environment, and be able to interact with student-athletes in small groups and one-on-one settings. In all capacities, this individual must exhibit the highest levels of professionalism and integrity while working within the framework of university policies and NCAA rules.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication (public speaking) skills
Must have the ability to lead and guide student-athletes
Must have the ability to engage students with documented learning disabilities
Must have the ability to perform accurate detail-oriented work and communicate effectively with a diverse population and a wide range of constituencies
Must have the ability to work with new technology to enhance job performance
Must possess an understanding of the university’s academic structures and processes
Must possess the ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate a commitment to integrity
Must possess analytical and decision-making skills necessary to interpret and apply complex NCAA rules and regulations to ever-shifting academic scenarios
Must have the ability to train and educate support personnel about NCAA compliance standards
Knowledge of Division I NCAA eligibility regulations
Knowledge of University, College, and Department academic rules and regulations
Adherence to all applicable NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations is required
