The Student Athlete Development office provides holistic and inclusive programming to support student athletes in their personal growth and experience while at Boston College and help prepare them for life beyond. The responsibilities of the Assistant Director of Student Athlete Development are to assist in the planning and execution the career readiness, student development, community engagement and special events programing within the Student Athlete Development program aimed to advance the mission of Boston College by engaging students, faculty, and staff in understanding and practicing the goal of student formation, a central element in Jesuit education. This position will assist with the new and ongoing projects that the Student Athlete Development program creates to support the formation of Boston College student athletes in order to provide a well-rounded Boston College experience and prepare student athletes for life after sport.
The position will primarily coordinate and execute all career readiness and professional development programming, engagement with campus resources and external employers, coordinate and facilitate engagement opportunities with alumni and student athletes, as well as conduct one-on-one meetings with student athletes to assist in their preparation for life after graduation. This position will assist in the development of informational, educational and promotional materials.
The Assistant Director will also serve as a referring agent to other University offices and provide personal developmental support to student-athletes. This position will be expected to plan, budget and execute special events put on by the Student Athlete Development program. In addition, they will assist with the implementation of additional student athlete personal development, leadership and community engagement workshops and events.
Requires a minimum of two to three years of professional and/or student work experience in Higher Education, specifically in student athlete development and undergraduate athletics; and preferably including experience as a student-athlete.
Requires a one to three years of experience in athletic administration, teaching, or student athlete development programming. Preferred experience working with student athletes in career preparation.
Experience working in and with a diverse population is required
Experience as a former student-athlete is preferred.
Prior knowledge and experience with NCAA rules and regulations is preferred.
Experience working in higher education is preferred.
Understanding of student formation and the key aspectsof a Jesuit education preferred
