The University of Texas at San Antonio, located in San Antonio, Texas, invites nominations and applications for the position of Vice President and Director of Athletics.
UTSA is seeking an individual who is committed to the university's advancement in academics, research, engagement, and athletics and who has the leadership capabilities to take the UTSA Athletic program to higher levels of achievement and recognition.

UTSA ATHLETICS: A member of Conference USA (C-USA), UTSA sponsors 17 varsity sports programs (9 for women and 8 for men) while serving over 400 student-athletes. UTSA teams are highly competitive at the NCAA Division I level, regularly contending for C-USA Championships and participating in NCAA post-season competitions.
POSITION SUMMARY:The position reports to the President of the University and is a member of the President's Senior Leadership Team. The Vice President/Director administers the overall athletic program, and provides strategic leadership, direction, and oversight for a highly competitive, comprehensive NCAA Division I athletics program.
The Vice President/Director is responsible for fiscal affairs, athletics development and resource management, personnel, strategic planning, athletics facilities, event management, public relations, and general operations and works closely with multiple internal and external constituencies to advance strategic University objectives and goals.
The Vice President/Director supervises a full and part-time staff of approximately 125 people and manages an annual budget of over $28M. The Director also provides leadership and represents UTSA in its responsibilities as a NCAA Division I participant and a member of C-USA.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE:
A background that demonstrates high moral character, honesty, and personal integrity;
A Bachelor,s degree from a regionally accredited college or university is required; a post-graduate degree(s) is preferred;
Seven years of successful management experience with evidence of increased responsibility in NCAA Division I athletics administration;
Demonstrated evidence of effective leadership and the ability to manage and motivate a diverse organization;
A successful record of a commitment to the well-being of student-athletes, including their academic, social, and physical development;
A demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, compliance with NCAA regulations and Title IX;
A successful record of and commitment to promoting gender equity and diversity;
Evidence of strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with diverse internal and external communities;
Demonstrated success and mastery in managing a multi-faceted budget;
Evidence of successfully generating revenues and managing existing resources for a complex organization;
A commitment to and experience in raising private support from donors and from corporations;
An established record of achievement in the areas of marketing and promotions; and,
A successful record of long-range strategic and financial planning in a complex organization.
