Long Island University (LIU) is seeking two Assistant Directors of Athletic Development to provide leadership and direction for the Pioneer Club and Blackbird Club. These highly motivated professionals will be involved with the planning and implementation of the Pioneer Club and Blackbird Club fundraising efforts in support of LIU Post and LIU Brooklyn intercollegiate athletics and the University Annual Fund.
Primary responsibilities require focus on building relationships through one-on-one visits and on-going communication with assigned prospects and donors to develop giving strategies, and solicit, close, and renew annual gifts and donor membership.
Day-to-Day Management of the Pioneer Club and Blackbird Club and Athletics Annual Fund.
Reporting to the Director of the University Annual Fund and in collaboration with the Directors of Athletics, execute, direct and manage all aspects of the Pioneer Club and Blackbird Club and Athletics Annual Fund. Meet regularly and collaborate with the Directors of Athletics (or designees) regarding the implementation plan for Athletics Fundraising, including: Pioneer Club and Blackbird Club membership growth (participation) Revenue Growth (financial giving), Development of all collateral materials, Membership benefits, Annual Giving, and Corporate Sponsorships.
Develop and Coordinate Athletics Annual Fund plan that includes summer, fall, and winter mail appeals, year-round team-specific e-mail appeals, fall and spring student phone-a-thons, distribution of athletics newsletters and team-specific alumni communications.
Develop Pioneer and Blackbird Corporate Sponsorship Program. The intent of the program is to tie LIU Post Athletics and LIU Brooklyn Athletics to local, regional and even national businesses and form strategic relationships that will help increase the exposure and enhance the brand awareness of our corporate partners through LIU Brooklyn's 17 NCAA Division I varsity programs and LIU Post's 25 NCAA Division II varsity programs.
Maintain donor records (contact reports, proposals and next steps) in Raiser's Edge. Collaborate with University Advancement and Annual Fund in monthly Prospect Meetings.
Manage a portfolio of alumni donors, alumni prospects, current corporate partners, and prospective corporate partners. Make 48 or more personal visits per year.
Appear and participate at multiple LIU sporting events, including all home football games, all other sporting events as assigned so that Pioneer Club/Blackbird Club staff has comprehensive event coverage.
Comply with all NCAA, and Long Island University rules, regulations and policies.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. • Demonstrated experience in athletic fundraising, alumni relations, or related fields. • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of fundraising practices and principles. • Demonstrated strong computer skills in Raiser's Edge (or similar fundraising database), Constant Contact/Vertical Response (or similar mass email application), Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, /Illustrator or related environment. • Excellent interpersonal skills to relate to and establish relationships with donors, volunteers and colleagues. • Self-motivated with ability to set strategic goals while implementing fundraising principles and tactics.
