The Athletics Department is accepting applications for a Compliance Coordinator who will assist the Athletics’ Compliance unit in ensuring coaches, student-athletes, staff, former students, and boosters abide by NCAA and Big 12 Conference rules and regulations. The position will serve as the primary compliance monitor in the area of student-athlete initial eligibility. Primary job duties will include monitoring, researching, evaluating, determining and verifying the initial eligibility status of prospective student-athletes enrolling at Iowa State University. This position will also assist in providing rules education and interpretive guidance to the institution’s student-athletes, coaches and staff. This position will regularly analyze, request, research, verify, create, distribute and process a large volume of information. Position will maintain student-athlete records and relevant institutional databases. Position will assist in compiling relevant Big 12 and NCAA reports. Position may assist in waiver writing, external and internal audits, and other compliance related duties. This position requires a high level of integrity and will perform all duties in adherence with NCAA, Big 12, and university policies.
The successful candidates will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with individuals and groups. The candidates will have exceptional organizational skills, be highly detail oriented, and have the ability to research and analyze compliance related issues and NCAA legislation through the Legislative Services Database (LSDBi). The candidates will also possess excellent judgment and decision-making along with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet departmental deadlines.
Required: Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of related experience; OR a combination of education and/or related experience totaling 5 years unless otherwise specified under supplemental required education and experience.
*Must have in-depth experience evaluating the initial eligibility of prospective student-athletes.
Preferred: Experience working directly in a Division I NCAA compliance office or the NCAA Eligibility Center. Experience analyzing regulations, researching interpretations, monitoring designated activities, and providing others guidance on compliance and regulations. Experience that includes regular interaction working with collegiate coaches and student-athletes on compliance monitoring issues.
