Serves as the Academic Advisor for assigned student-athletes by providing academic support services. Provides academic support to assigned teams. Provides support to learning specialists in administrating academic plans. Performs other duties as assigned. JOB DUTIES:
30% - Essential - STUDENT-ATHLETE ACADEMIC SUPPORT: Provides academic support services to assigned student-athletes. Develops a working relationship with students. Holds regularly scheduled meetings with all first-year freshmen, transfers, and other student-athletes in Triple E. Discusses planning and organizing class material, note-taking, effective time management strategies, and tracks completed assignments and tests results with student-athletes. Ensures student-athletes understand and develop a graduation plan. Monitors class attendance, tutor and mentor use, and independent students enrolled in Triple E. Serves as a liaison for coaches, providing regular updates on the academic performance of assigned student-athletes. Continues to support and reaches out to assigned student-athletes after Triple E requirements are completed.
30% - Essential - ACADEMIC SUPPORT-ASSIGNED TEAMS: Provides academic support to assigned teams. Ensures new students successfully transition to the University and academic community. Serves as a resource about Clemson's academic program with prospects, their parents, student-athletes, coaches, and administrators. Ensures squad list, eligibility checklist, addendum, and APR projections are accurate. Demonstrates expertise with NCAA eligibility rules, curriculum requirements and ensures all team member's schedules reflect graduation planning. Travels to team competitions. Provides academic information to coaches, recruits, prospective students on official or unofficial visits. Completes eligibility checklist, follows timeline and ensures coaches and student-athletes are aware of NCAA eligibility standards and issues.
25% - Essential - ACADEMIC INTEGRITY AND DATA MANAGEMENT: Assists in overall operations of Athletic Academic Support. Supports the highest ideals of academic integrity with teams, coaches and intuitional personnel. Manages building and Triple E during evening hours. Evaluates tutors and mentors and reviews tutor notes on a daily basis. Provides data for the Provost Report. Assists with the honor and awards process. Provides support to immersion and other committees as assigned.
10% - Essential - ORIENTATION ASSISTANCE: Assists all incoming assigned student-athletes with transition and acclimation to the University. Ensures participation in orientation sessions, pre-registration, Clemson Connect and computer training. Provides orientation to Triple E and assists student-athletes in setting academic goals. Assists student-athletes in developing and implementing a graduation plan in the major of their choice consistent with NCAA eligibility requirements. Ensures all student-athletes participate in immersion. Ensures each incoming student-athlete is utilizing electronic resources and stays involved with the Summer Immersion Program.
5% - Essential - LEARNING SPECIALIST SUPPORT: Provides support to learning specialists to administer academic plans. Works with learning specialists to schedule meetings. Assists in the administration of inventories to gather academic data. Discusses student progress with learning specialists on a regular basis to understand academic development towards each student's semester goals. Ensures all students in the ROAR program are utilizing their time with the learning specialists by emphasizing with students the importance of academic planning toward academic achievement. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Master's Degree and 1+ years of work experience. RESPONSIBILITIES:
