Responsible for providing vision, leadership and management of the intercollegiate athletic and recreation programs of Jamestown Community College (JCC). In addition to supervising operations and personnel, the Director is responsible for developing, conducting, implementing, managing and recommending policies, procedures and programs. Ensures all programs are developed and implemented in conjunction with the mission of the College.
Responsible for strategic planning and the leadership and management of JCC's intercollegiate athletic and recreation programs, including but not limited to: growth and development of athletic and recreation programs; financial success of the programs, including budget development and management; recruitment and retention of student athletes; and administrative oversight of assigned staff.
Responsible for the JCC intercollegiate athletic program in accordance with College policies, as well as Title IX and other applicable rules and regulations.
Assures, interprets and maintains compliance with National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) standards and policies, including student-athlete eligibility and standards and ethics practices.
Responsible for JCC recreation programs on the Jamestown, Cattaraugus and North County Extension Center campuses, including all activities that are sponsored both on- and off-campus.
Responsible for coordination and oversight of all fundraising activities, including team- and College-specific campaigns; creation and execution of all special events; and appropriate distribution of fundraising-generated monies.
Responsible for the day-to-day operation and management of all JCC athletic facilities, including Total Fitness, ensuring the coordination of activities and the scheduling of facilities are consistent with revenue goals, constituent needs, and program needs.
Responsible for the oversight of all athletic recruitment activities, including coordination of communications and campus visits of prospective student athletes in collaboration with the Admissions Office.
Responsible for planning and vision of the athletics and recreation programs, including the identification of athletic and recreation opportunities that will attract and retain students.
Travel for this position is required, including travel between JCC campuses and travel to athletic events.
Ability and willingness to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends.
Supervisory and budget management experience.
Fundraising and planning experience.
Required: Bachelor's degree in sports management or closely-related field plus four (4) years of athletics and leadership experience. Demonstrated success in athletic programs as a coach or administrator.
Preferred: Master's Degree in sports management or closely-related field. Experience in higher education. Experience in community college setting.
Salary Range: $55,909 - $62,902, commensurate with qualifications and experience, plus excellent benefits package.
