The Stanford University Department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation is currently accepting applications for the position of Director of Sales, Corporate Partnerships. Reporting to the Assistant Athletics Director – Corporate Partnerships, this position will be be responsible for generating new business and implementing high-level corporate marketing partnerships for the university’s athletics program. This position will be committed to extending the affinity of the Stanford Cardinal brand to businesses and corporations of all sizes looking to align with a passionate collegiate sports fan base. You will provide corporate partners both traditional and new media opportunities to associate with the Cardinal brand and bolster their own brand and garner maximum exposure through inventory such as digital venue signage, event sponsorships and promotions, corporate hospitality, digital visibility and engagement visibility via official athletics channels, and radio game broadcasts.
Summary of essential job functions:
Generate revenue through new business.
Coach and mentor other members of the corporate partnership sales team.
Foster positive employee morale and teamwork; able to influence and motivate others through leading by example.
Develop creative, sellable inventory.
Prospect and close new partnerships.
Create and present sponsorship packages designed to meet clients’ objectives.
Collaborate with vendors, sponsors and colleagues to ensure smooth implementation of sponsorships and satisfactory contract fulfillment.
Ideally 8+ years selling comprehensive sports marketing partnerships, including major media elements or relevant business-to-business sales experience
Self-motivated while also team-oriented
Excellent communication, organizational, and presentation skills; superb written and verbal communication skills, as well as excellent relationship building skills
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with a track record of cross-departmental collaboration and working well in groups
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel
Collaborative, team player with strong leadership and strategy development skills
A general curiosity for appropriate industries and ability to strategize their solutions
Ability to work extended hours including games and events on evening and weekends
