Randolph College invites nominations and applications for the position of Director of Athletics. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with vision, dedication, and integrity to oversee the management and future development of a growing NCAA Division III athletics program. Randolph College, in Lynchburg, Virginia, is a private, academically selective, liberal arts college with a current enrollment of approximately 700. Randolph College is a member of the highly competitive Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) and currently offers ten team sports for women and eight for men, plus a co-ed equestrian team.
The Director must be strongly committed to the Division III philosophy that balances athletic participation and success with academic achievement. The Director is responsible for the management and administration of all aspects of the intercollegiate athletics program. These include: oversight of the academic progress of student-athletes; cooperating with appropriate administrative units to enhance recruitment and retention of students; responsibility for compliance with college, conference, and NCAA regulations; direction and evaluation of all Athletics Program personnel (currently 16 direct reports, including the Director of the Riding Center); budgetary oversight, including working within the college community to effectively utilize resources for the benefit of the entire student body; cultivating Alumni support (working in collaboration with the Advancement Division); and active promotion of the college and the Athletic Program on campus, in the community, and in the region.
Applicants should have athletics administrative experience. A Master’s Degree and previous coaching experience are preferred. This is a 12-month position that reports to the Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students.
