Winthrop University, a Division I member of the NCAA and located in Rock Hill, South Carolina, is accepting applications for the position of Associate Athletic Director for Student Success.
Under the direction of the Director of Athletics, the Associate Athletic Director for Student Success serves as a member of the Athletics Department senior staff and is responsible for the oversight and management of all NCAA Compliance matters related to the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and the University, as well as oversight and management of all units directly tied to student-athlete success and other general administrative functions and operations for Winthrop University’s 17 NCAA Division I varsity athletics programs.
Management of all NCAA Compliance matters.
Supervision of NCAA Compliance personnel, Athletic Academic Services, Athletic Training, Strength and Conditioning, CHAMPS/Life Skills, and administrative oversight of multiple sports programs.
Serve as liaison with university personnel to ensure overall compliance related to eligibility, financial aid, admission, recruitment, housing, and academics.
Provide athletic administrative oversight for all areas related to student life.
Researches and interprets rules and data related to conference and NCAA regulations.
Designs and administers rules education programming for department and constituent groups.
Oversees the academic certification of athletes.
Proficient in use of software programs to maintain eligibility and certification of athletes (ARMS, Compliance Assistant, Eligibility Checklist, Banner).
Provide rules interpretations and promote atmosphere of compliance for athletic department and the university.
Oversee all aspects of Academic Progress Rate data input, reporting and strategic planning.
Serves on university, conference, national, and NCAA committees.
Performs other related duties as required.
Bachelor’s degree and three years of progressive experience in athletics required. Experience working with NCAA Compliance preferred. Candidates must possess excellent communication, organizational and computer skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the general public. Ability to work flexible hours and be present at athletic/sports events. Employment Conditions: A 12-month full-time position. Salary dependent upon qualifications.
