Student-Athlete Engagement Coordinator Internship?Applications are being accepted for paid internship position with the Nye Center for Student-Athlete Services in the Department of Athletics at Texas A&M University for the 2017-2018 academic year (July 2017-June 2018).
This position is intended to provide a practical, hands-on experience in the areas of Athletic Academic Counseling and Support and Student-Athlete Engagement programming. This position will assist in preparation for full-time athletic academic advising at the collegiate level and programming for Student-Athlete Engagement.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities Student-Athlete Engagement Coordinator will assist in the day-to-day operations of the center, including, but not limited to, counseling and advising select student-athletes, monitoring academic progress, unofficial eligibility evaluations, academic support requests and coordination, and completion of projects assigned by the Asst. Athletic Director-Academic Support Services. The Student-Athlete Engagement Coordinator will attend weekly training and support meetings with the Asst. AD and staff and will be assisted and trained in all aspects of student-athletes academic services.
The Student-Athlete Engagement Coordinator will attend Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Meetings; assist in coordination of career programming and community service events, maintain and update social media accounts, and complete other projects as assigned by the Director of Student-Athlete Engagement.
Essential Skills/Functions Adhere to NCAA rules and the Family Educational Rights to Privacy Act (FERPA).?Possess excellent oral and written communications skills.?Possess the ability to clearly establish, monitor, and maintain appropriate boundaries with student-athletes. Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.?Must possess effective interpersonal skills and problem solving ability, with attention to detail being stressed.
