The Assistant Academic Coordinator will be responsible for the following:
Supervise student-athletes and tutors in daytime and evening structured study hall environments, including individual study and tutor sessions.
Work closely with tutorial and mentoring program staffs to set up and oversee group and one-on-one tutorial and mentoring sessions based on student-athlete performance and requests, including daily changes to student appointments.
Assist ASPSA Academic Coordinators by creating written reports to articulate student-athlete academic course progress, structured study attendance and behavior.
Determine the academic support needs of an assigned group of student-athletes through regular one-on-one academic meetings, monitor and report behavior in a structured environment, and report grades given by instructors.
Co-teach University Studies Courses (USC) in fall and spring, which are designed to support first year student-athletes in their transition from high school through the first year of college studies.
Assist in engaging student-athletes in the course selection and registration process.
Participate in staff trainings on a variety of subjects related to academic support, including APR/eligibility, registration advising and recruiting.
Assist with presentations made to prospective student-athletes during on-campus visits.
Coordinate the logistics and programming for the ASPSA Drive-In Conference for academic support professionals.
Complete special projects as assigned.
Note: Start date is June 19, 2017 and the position ends on May 18, 2018.
