This position reports directly to the Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Marketing. The core responsibility of this position is to define the analytical and marketing practices associated with the newly implemented Audience Engagement platform and utilize the platform to analyze complex data models to develop sales, marketing and communication strategies for Carolina Athletics and other campus entities. Performing predictive analysis to better engage constituents resulting in expanded revenue opportunities for Carolina Athletics; developing reports and visualizations to support the department, and leading digital marketing efforts throughout the department and other campus entities.
Education and Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, math, or Engineering or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution; or - Bachelor’s degree and some computer coursework from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in business application consulting or development; or - Associate’s degree in Computer Programming and one year of experience in application consulting or development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - Journey level requires an additional one year of experience. - Advanced level requires an additional two years of experience.All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institution.
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Must demonstrate experience and confidence in independently extracting, manipulating, analyzing, interpreting, and documenting large, complex data sets with substantial work with programming, statistical and data visualization software (SQL). Must demonstrate supreme attention to detail, strong communication and interpersonal abilities and a high degree of initiative and ownership. A willingness to acquire additional skills through venues such as the SAS institute is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree preferred. Degree will be in a data-oriented field associated with strong research methods, statistics, and data visualization experience. SAS certification a plus. Preference given to candidates with analytics and digital marketing in a sports management discipline, particularly with experience in a complex educational environment. Experience within the professional sports or collegiate athletics industry is preferred.
