Grand Canyon University’s is seeking a Senior Associate Athletic Director or an Associate Athletic Director of Business Operations (depends on experience). This position is responsible for effective and efficient operations of the Athletic Department’s daily business operations. Responsibilities include the overall management of the athletic business operations, which includes payroll and benefits, accounts payable, procurement, budget management and control, account reconciliation and inventory control, providing fiscal policy development, and implementing operational policies, procedures, practices and standards that ensure optimal efficiencies of the athletic business office.
Preparation and administration of annual athletics budget.
Prepare monthly budget statements and assist with short range and long range forecasting.
Develop operational procedures for monitoring financial transactions to ensure accurate recording and strong fiscal management.
Review accounting statements sent by GCU cost accounting to ensure all transactions charged to athletics are accurate.
Management and oversight of all administrative support roles/functions for Athletics.
Effectively monitor all fiscal and budgetary matters within the Athletic Department in the institution’s effort to comply with NCAA, WAC and GCU rules and regulations.
Responsible for recommending cost and operational improvements in athletics to ensure cost effectiveness of resources and operational efficiency.
Responsible for management of athletics department policy and procedures:
Recommends need for operating guidelines.
Updates all policies and procedures.
Puts appropriate monitoring in place to ensure compliance with all guidelines.
Serve as Department of Athletics liaison with designated GCU departments to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
Manage all athletic camp programs both administratively and financially.
Prepare annual NCAA annual EADA financial data report.
Prepare annual NCAA Revenue and Expense Report and any other NCAA financial reports.
Serve as primary liaison for all athletic department audits, be they internal or external.
Assist with developing cost proposals for needed athletic resources, equipment facilities, personnel for VP of Athletics to submit to Executive management.
Manage athletic scholarship program and collaborates with athletic compliance to ensure adherence to all NCAA rules and regulations.
Provide management and supervision of staff which consists of administrative staff, camp director and student workers.
Bachelor’s Degree required preferably in Business Management, Accounting or other related field.
5+ years’ experience performing budgetary and business operations in collegiate athletics.
Knowledge of accounting and budget management principles
Strong working knowledgeable of NCAA rules and regulations.
Proficient with computer software including MS Office Suite.
