Western Oregon University invites applicants for an annually renewable (10.5 month appointment, Jul 1 – Nov 17, 2017 / Jan 8 – Jun 30, 2018) Assistant Athletic Trainer, unclassified position in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at Western Oregon University in Monmouth. The Athletics department sponsors 13 intercollegiate sports for over 400 student-athletes. Western Oregon University is a member of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) and the NCAA Division II.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Assist with providing medical service to the coed cross country, track and field team
· Assist with providing medical service to the collegiate football team
Documentation of injury records and reporting, maintaining FERPA and HIPPA requirements
Collaborate with the team physician and other allied health-care professionals
Articulate with administrators, coaches, parents, and student-athletes within appropriate medical/legal requirements
Organize and participate in pre-participation physical examinations
Supervise student athletic trainer volunteers
Perform duties as assigned and commensurate with the normal activities related to athletic training service
Ability to work nights, weekends, occasional holidays, and travel with sports teams
Bachelor’s degree in Athletic training, Health, Exercise Science, or related field (Degree must be completed by
July 1, 2017)
2 years of experience working in intercollegiate athletics (Graduate Assistantship qualifies)
NATABOC Certified Athletic Trainer (Certification completed by August 1, 2017)
Oregon State Registration, or be eligible for registration in the State of Oregon as an Athletic Trainer
Master’s degree in Sports Medicine or similar field of study
Graduate Assistantship providing athletic training service to a collegiate sports team
Experience providing athletic training service to collegiate coed track and field team
Assist with providing medical service to a collegiate football team
Criminal background check will be required as a condition of employment
