Responsible for coordinating programming to enhance the focus areas within Student-Athlete Development of: community service and outreach, personal development and responsibility, career preparation, and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Performs other duties as assigned.
50% - Essential - Community Outreach and Service: Connects student-athletes to community outreach and service opportunities to support their personal development. Builds strategic relationships with student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and community and campus partners to engage student-athletes in service opportunities. Creates curriculum and facilitate discussions to promote understanding of root causes of problems. Develops, plans, and executes studentathlete service trips both domestic and international. Collaborates with other members of the Student- Athlete Development staff for program creation, facilitation, and implementation. Manages and/or develops a tracking system to stay up-to-date with service hours for individuals, teams, and entire department. Researches service learning programs, curriculum, and research to provide cutting-edge programming intended to support student-athletes growth toward developing purpose and identity outside of sport. Supports community outreach initiatives for the Tiger Leadership Academy. Develops and implements assessment tools to measure and record program and service effectiveness. Oversees a student worker for community service and outreach initiatives.
20% - Essential - Personal Development and Responsibility: Creates, organizes and facilitates programs to promote personal development and responsibility. Builds relationships with student-athletes, coaches, and athletics staff to provide effective programs related to diversity and inclusion, mental health and wellness, drugs and alcohol education, personal identity, and healthy relationships. Collaborates with other members of Student-Athlete Development staff for program creation and implementation. Develops and implements assessment tools to measure and record program and service effectiveness.
10% - Essential - Career Enhancement and Readiness: Assists in the coordination and execution of career development programming and provide individual career advising to assigned teams. Engages student-athletes, professionals, alumni and other key stakeholders to implement new and support existing career programs. Collaborates with other member of Student-Athlete Development staff for program creation and implementation. Meets directly with studentathletes from assigned teams to promote career readiness (e.g. review resumes, review cover letters, conduct mock interviews, and track progress toward desired career).
5% - Essential - Student-Athlete Advisory Committee: Supports the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and oversees Community Outreach and Service Subcommittee. Organizes and supports SAAC programming initiatives through coordinating with SAAC Executive, creating agendas and supporting SAAC subcommittees. Coordinates SAAC meals. Communicates with senior administrators to promote student-athlete well-being and enhance communication between student-athletes and administration.
15% - Essential - Miscellaneous Duties: Monitors Student-Athlete Development budget and adheres to Clemson purchasing processes. Oversees 3- 4 teams as the liaison to the Student-Athlete Development department to build relationships with studentathletes, coaches and athletics staff. Communicates with participants and other stakeholders to promote engagement in Student-Athlete Development programs. Provides recruiting talks to unofficial and official recruits and families visiting Clemson. Attends and supports additional Student-Athlete Development programs, including the Clemson Welcome Back Picnic, community service and SAAC initiatives as needed, freshmen programs, etc.
A bachelor's degree and experience in student services programs.
