Goshen College invites applications for the position of Athletic Director.
The Athletic Director (AD) provides dynamic leadership of the athletic program in supporting the 14 intercollegiate athletic teams, coaches and student athletes in alignment with the institutional vision and departmental strategic plan. As the official representative of GC athletics, the AD coordinates the internal and external promotion of the department and overall management of all aspects of the athletic department. The Athletic Director works closely with institutional leadership, the faculty and student life personnel in providing an excellent student experience through the integration of faith and sport through spiritual, character and leadership development.
In coordination with Admissions Department and the coaching staff, the Athletic Director sets recruiting goals and actively engages in the enrollment process. The AD works with Institutional Advancement and the Maple Leaf Athletic Club to build relationships with donors and supporters of intercollegiate athletics.
The Athletic Director serves as the official athletic representative for Goshen College in the Crossroads League Conference. This includes attendance at all meetings and voting responsibilities. This position also assumes the same responsibilities as an official college representative and active member in the NAIA.
This position is supervised by the provost/executive vice president.
Bachelor’s degree required. At least Five years of supervisory experience preferred.
A strong, demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the Mission and Core Values of Goshen College is essential. In addition, this person must exhibit personal integrity, strong interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team as well as interdepartmentally, strong written and oral communication skills, and the ability to manage students. Other skills and attributes important for this role include being creative/innovative, flexible/adaptable, self-motivated, productive, organized, positive and energetic.
