RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the supervision of the Head Baseball Coach: assist in the administration, organization and coaching of the university’s NCAA Division I Baseball program. Essential tasks include but will not be limited to: assist the head coach with coordinating recruitment of qualified baseball student athletes, development of all practice and game on field coaching activities; scouting opponents; on and off campus recruiting activities; assist in game preparations and player improvements. Provide oversight of the film exchange program; participate in community and public service activities; work with marketing staff to improve game promotion and participation in summer camps and clinics. Incumbent will ensure the program will be competitive on the field and in the classroom within NCAA guidelines and in a professional manner. Work with the athletes to develop the team offensive and defensive systems and individual team skills; serve as a positive and professional authority figure, a role model and a counselor to our student athletes advising them in matters related to their sport and education. Incumbent will make public appearances and speak at civic events within the community. The assistant coach will attend national, Conference USA meetings and national baseball conventions to remain current in their sport including changes that occur; also required to know and follow NCAA rules and regulations reporting any violations to the Director of Compliance; required to pass the NCAA recruiting exam to recruit each season. The Assistant Coach will teach a part time load in the Health & Human Performance department and perform other related tasks as assigned by the head coach.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred. Two years of college, high school or professional coaching experience. Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. Playing experience at a collegiate or professional level preferred.
SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with experience
