The Athletic Academic Coordinator, under general supervision, advises current and prospective student athletes concerning academic requirements. Provides mentoring and coordinates tutoring and study hall programs. Works with stakeholders regarding academic advisement and student success activities and oversees academic progress per University, Conference, and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) rules.
This position is responsible for monitoring the academic success of assigned teams. Communicating with the coaching staff and athletic administrator and providing necessary information for NCAA reports. In addition, the position coordinate the Student Athlete Affairs programming for the office including Islander Cup, SA Orientations and other educational programming throughout the year.
*Supervise academic progress of student athletes in assigned sports. Report and communicate student-athlete issues with coaching staff and others. *Assist in coordinating Student Athlete Affairs programming and Islander's Cup competition for the Athletic Department. *Assist in teaching SA sections of UCCP Freshman Seminar. *Assist with reporting to and coordinating with Coaching staff regarding student academic success each semester. *Provide information for NCAA required reports. *Prepare prospective student-athlete evaluations in preparation for official visits and other recruiting activities, for all sports.
*Assist in the admissions process for assigned sport. *Perform other duties as assigned.
* Two (2) years of related experience in advising students, teaching and coaching, or academic support programs. *Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
* Work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends. Travel required.
*Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
*Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality. Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
*Knowledgeable of NCAA eligibility rules and regulations.
