Reporting to the Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Services for Student Athletes, the incumbent will be an Academic Advisor for six athletic department teams. Specific duties include: coordinating and monitoring the academic success of assigned teams (MSO, MCC, WCC, WLA, MTR & WTR) including weekly meetings with student-athletes; coordinating academic reports; communicating with faculty and coaches; assisting with initial and continuing eligibility; teaching a freshmen introduction to the university course, PHED 202 (fall only); coordinating book scholarships; coordinating and maintaining the student-athlete handbook; coordinating the senior student-athlete celebration; serving as the liaison to the Admissions & Orientation office for new student-athlete orientation; assisting with the recruitment of new student-athletes; and performing other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree in counseling, education, special education, curriculum and instruction, sports psychology or related field and one year of professional experience preferably working with student-athletes as a learning specialist, or in an academic advising, teaching, counseling roll. Must have excellent communication and organizational skills.
Master's Degree preferred. N4A membership, understanding of NCAA/AEC rules and regulations, and experience with PeopleSoft and GradesFirst desired. Division I experience preferred. Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds strongly desired.
