Job Purpose The Creative Services department at Towson University is accepting applications for a Licensing Coordinator. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, Creative Services, the Licensing Coordinator is responsible for the active management of the Towson University trademark licensing program: The individual will ensure consistent trademark reproduction and use, develop and execute programs to promote and protect the university's trademarks, and maintain good relationships between the university and its licensing partner, licensees and retail outlets carrying Towson-branded merchandise.
Description Serve as the primary point of contact with the university's licensing partner, reviewing/approving artwork, promotion requests and licensee applications. Develop an annual marketing plan for promoting TU trademark use. Work closely with Athletics and the University Store to design and implement on- and off-campus promotional campaigns. Manage relationships with existing and potential retailers and licensees, promoting the benefits of carrying Towson University-branded merchandise and reproducing the brand marks correctly. Promote proper use of university trademarks to on-campus constituents, serve as resource for licensing-related questions and maintain current licensing information on TU licensing website. Investigate and respond to incorrect or unlicensed trademark use and work with the university's licensing partner to oversee enforcement activities related to unauthorized trademark use.
Qualifications The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree and two years of experience in trademark licensing, brand marketing, graphic design, sports management or related field; and strong interpersonal and writing skills. A demonstrated understanding of the importance of brand mark standards and the ability to enforce them; the ability to understand legal issues related to trademark use and infringement; and experience with marketing campaigns and/or retail promotions preferred. A Criminal Background Investigation is required for the hired candidate and the results may impact employment.
