The University Compliance Office is seeking a Senior Associate Athletic Director (AD) for Compliance. Under the direction of the Chief Compliance Office, and in consultation with the Vice President and Director of Athletics, the Senior Associate Athletic Director will be responsible for leading, planning, and organizing all phases of a Division I NCAA compliance program. The Compliance program consist of 19 varsity sports and more than 450 student-athletes, athletics department and University administration, staff, representatives of athletics interests and other outside constituencies.
The Senior Associate AD for Compliance will serve as the FAU liaison to the NCAA and Conference office on legislative and governance matters. The Senior Associate AD for Compliance will work collaboratively with General Counsel to limit risk exposure to the University and is responsible for education, monitoring and enforcement of University, Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
Additionally, the Senior Associate AD for Compliance will:
Manage and oversee the athletics compliance staff, including the Associate AD for Compliance. This includes providing leadership, setting and evaluating staff and individual goals, developing and sustaining appropriate training, and monitoring primary focus area of staff members. Manage the investigation and reporting of alleged violations of NCAA regulations to the Chief Compliance Officer, Director of Athletics, NCAA, and other university personnel as appropriate.
Oversee all compliance areas including amateurism, recruiting, financial aid, eligibility, extra benefits, and playing and practice seasons. Provide oversight and monitors for compliance related to student-athlete admissions, initial and continuing eligibility certification, financial aid, housing, dining services; book distribution and return, vehicle registration, and exit interviews. Manage and ensures the integrity of responses to information and documentation requests from the NCAA, conference, and internal and external auditors. Summarize and reports on all staff responsibilities and activities.
Develop and manages area budget. Proactively builds and maintains positive and collaborative working relationships with colleagues across campus. Serve as a member of the Athletics Senior Leadership team. Serve as the liaison to the Faculty Athletics Representative and the Intercollegiate Athletics Committee (IAC). Responsible for leading the department-wide utilization of Jump Forward. This includes but is not limited to understanding the functionality, providing appropriate training and education on systems use, and granting access to the system. Evaluate future technology solutions for potential implementation.
Design, directs, implements and coordinates an engaging, comprehensive, and interactive rules education involving student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and other campus constituencies, and representatives of athletics interests. Collaborate with team members on the development and implementation of compliance-related internal policies and procedures (e.g., Drug Testing Policy, Medical Disqualification Policy, scholarship philosophy and processes, etc.). Responsible for creating a clear process for review, approval and reporting on the use of the NCAA Student Assistance Fund.
Respond in a timely and supportive manner to questions and requests for interpretation of regulations regarding NCAA and conference rules from coaches, athletic department personnel, student-athletes, and athletics representatives. Collaborate on Title IX and gender equity compliance and assists in the completion of the annual EADA report. Maintain updated Compliance Policy and Procedure Handbook and web-page, including regular assessment and development of new forms, policies and procedures, as necessary.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Master’s degree from an accredited institution and four years of appropriate experience; or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and six years of appropriate experience required.
Expert understanding of NCAA rules and regulations, careful judgement and discretion with respect to strategic and confidential materials required.
Experience in Title IX compliance required.
Ability to establish priorities, resolve issues and operate with significant autonomy are essential for success in this position. required.
