Associate Sports Information Director & Athletic Social Media Coordinator
The Athletics Department at Marist College invites applications for the 12-month, full-time position of Associate Sports Information Director & Athletic Social Media Coordinator. Marist College is an NCAA Division I program in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. The Associate Sports Information Director & Athletic Social Media Coordinator will work under the direction of the Assistant Athletics Director, Sports Information in preparing, collecting and dissemination of sports data in a timely manner for all 23 Division I programs, in addition to specific sports assignments. Sport assignments include women’s basketball, women’s soccer, men’s and women’s tennis and men’s and women’s rowing.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, oversee development and execution of social media platforms to ensure the maximization of creative and effective messaging to targeted audiences. Develop and execute a clearly defined social media strategy for individual sports and areas within the athletics department. Work with individual sports and areas within the athletics department to promote and coordinated consistency in social media messaging. Utilize social media to promote teams, student-athletes and upcoming events. Design graphics and video for Athletics website, social media and various publications. Prepare athletic press releases and statistics for website and media outlets. Maintain web pages for department’s official website. Complete publication assignments on a timely basis. Organize and maintain sports information and photo archives. Provide reporting and identify trends for web site (page views, visits, unique visitors, etc.) and social media. Serve as the Athletics Department’s liaison to the Center for Sports Communication. Other duties as assigned by Director of Sports Information.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in communications or related field. 2-4 years experience. Previous experience in college athletics, strongly preferred. Experience with all forms of digital media including website, social media, video and mobile. Strong writing and digital media skills; ability to communicate effectively with coaches, media and staff; experience with Division I sports information departments. Experience with Adobe Indesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, StatCrew, and Microsoft Word. Knowledge of web page maintenance, video streaming, maintaining statistics, photography and layout methods. Ability to work with social media platforms. Certification in CPR/First Aid/AED required prior to completion of probation period.
