ASSISTANT ATHLETIC DIRECTOR – EQUIPMENT/OPERATIONS

RESPONSIBILITIES: Work directly with the Director of Athletics, the Associate Athletic Director for Facilities and Game Operations, the Head Football Coach and the head coaches of the 16 other NCAA Division I sports sponsored by the University to oversee and manage all aspects of the Athletic Equipment Room for the University’s NCAA Division I Football program and its 16 additional athletic programs within NCAA guidelines. Incumbent will oversee all aspects of the University’s apparel contract negotiating, ordering, distributing and placing into inventory all appropriate and necessary equipment for each of the University’s 17 NCAA Division I athletic teams. Incumbent will ensure athletic equipment meets all safety standards and requirements. Incumbent will work directly the Associate Athletic Director Facilities and serve as liaison to Campus Planning and the Murphy Center Complex on all athletic building renovation and maintenance projects in conjunction with the Associate Athletic Director for Facilities. Essential tasks will include but not be limited to: serve as account manager for all athletic apparel contracts; attend national meetings or conventions to maintain CEU’s for AEMA certifications and remain current on safety of equipment issues and changes. Budget assigned athletic equipment funds; distribute all football and athletic equipment and provide overall maintenance of equipment. Assist with assignments of daily distribution of football equipment; maintain accurate football and athletic equipment inventory; coordinate football equipment transportation on all road trips; oversee daily laundry services and training all student managers for the equipment room to perform these task. Additional duties include: assist the Associate Athletic Director Facilities and Director Football Operations with all season and bowl cargo/equipment travel logistics and oversight of football student managers on the field and within the laundry/equipment room facility. Oversee all Conference USA brand identity requirements; coordinate turf and grounds crew to ensure surface conditions are appropriate for all athletic facilities; enforce utility vehicle and golf cart policies for staff and managers; implement standards and schedules for the upkeep of athletic facilities; support the risk management plan for athletics and perform other related duties as assigned. Assist with the oversight of athletic facility renovations and continued facility maintenance; required to know and follow NCAA rules and regulations and immediately report any known violations of NCAA rules to the Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance and submit all required compliance documentation in the appropriate timetable required by the compliance office.
Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Three (3) years progressively responsible experience as a College/Professional Football/Athletic Equipment Manager and/or Athletic Administrator required. Four years experience at a NCAA Division I institution in administration and/or Equipment Management preferred.
