Job Description: Serve on a seven-member staff unit performing functions related to financial aid compliance, risk management, rules and policy monitoring, education, and training.
Responsibilities: Support Texas Athletics in monitoring the daily operations of NCAA Bylaw 15 (Financial Aid) and other associated NCAA Bylaws in direct partnership with the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid. All assigned duties are designed to ensure the Athletics Risk Management and Compliance Services office continuously assesses and demonstrates that The University of Texas at Austin meets the National Collegiate Athletic Association's definition of institutional control and adheres to applicable University policies and/or state and federal regulations. This includes, but is not limited to, evaluating and detecting infractions, monitoring, documenting, educating, and developing policies and procedures. In accordance with office policy, coordinate and conduct office monitoring, education, and training initiatives related to NCAA Bylaw 15 (Financial Aid) and associated NCAA Bylaws or institutional policies; maintain office policies and procedures and ensure they operate as outlined in assigned areas; research and respond to interpretive issues; prepare and conduct rules education initiatives in assigned areas; compile and draft waivers for submission to the NCAA and/or Big 12 Conference; report, investigate, and file violations; and provide support for Texas Athletics risk management program and processes. This position is designated as a Responsible Employee, pursuant to Title IX and University policy. Master's Degree or other advanced degree. At least two years recent experience working with NCAA compliance issues in an athletics department, conference office, and/or NCAA national office. Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills to perform at a high level of accomplishment. Demonstrates excellent written, verbal, interpersonal communication, and presentation skills. Excellent PC skills using standard office automation software (e.g. Microsoft Office). Working knowledge of NCAA and other athletics compliance-related software systems (e.g., NCAA CA/LSDBi, FrontRush, Teamworks). Upholds high ethical standards and core values, maintains integrity, has professional demeanor and understands professional boundaries. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
