The University of Dayton Division of Athletics, a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference, is accepting resumes for the position of Academic Coordinator for Athletics. This position works in cooperation with the Associate Provost who has oversight of all academic counseling and reports on a daily operations basis to the Associate Director of Athletics. The Academic Coordinator for Athletics works closely with the Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) and other academic support programs on campus. The Academic Coordinator is responsible for providing academic counseling/advising to assigned athletic teams. Other responsibilities include registration, new student orientation and life skills course, and coordination of academic center staffing (student employees). This position organizes and implements processes for identifying, tracking and serving the academic support needs of student-athletes representing diverse populations. This position advises the Associate Provost on strategies for sustaining and improving academic services, assists in preparation for individualized educational plans for academically at risk student-athletes, coordinates tutorial services and other learning support, communicates and coordinates with student-athletes in matters of course selection, scheduling and registration in concert with NCAA regulations and works with instructors on team travel schedules and coordination of testing and assignments. This is a full time, 12-month position with full benefits. All UD Athletics employees are expected to comply with all laws, policies, rules and regulations governing the University, the NCAA and the Atlantic 10 Conference.

Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree, Professional experience providing academic advising to diverse groups of collegiate student athletes, Excellent written communication skills, Strong organizational skills, Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules, Competency in Microsoft Office applications, Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings or weekends.
Preferred qualifications: Master's degree, Minimum two years' experience advising Division I collegiate student athletes, Experience planning and facilitating large group activities, Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of diverse student populations (Honors, learning disabilities or multicultural/non US backgrounds), Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and to work proactively as an individual, Demonstrated experience in hiring, training or supervising student employees, Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, concurrently running projects, Demonstrated ability to resolve problem situations effectively, Excellent listening and oral communication skills, Knowledge of and sensitivity to a Catholic Marianist work environment.
