In support of this mission, Longwood University invites candidates to apply for the position of Assistant Athletics Director/Facilities & Event Management in Athletics. This position’s primary functions are planning and execution of all Longwood Athletics events for the success of 14 University-sponsored Division I men’s and women’s athletic teams; executing an exceptional “game day experience” for all fans as well as other events that represent the Longwood Lancer brand; managing staff for execution of events; oversight of athletic facilities that includes coordinating maintenance repairs and schedules; capital projects and improvements; and liaison with university facilities management for athletic department needs. This position will participate in the planning of the new Joan Perry Brock Convocation Center as it relates to the roles and responsibilities of the position.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Oversight and management of all event operations for 14 Division I intercollegiate sports, including hiring, training, scheduling and supervising game day staff, coordination of visiting teams, officials, and campus partners for event needs; primary event manager for men’s basketball, women’s basketball, and softball; Lead and supervise the Director of Athletic Events and wage employees in the execution of all other event operations
Plan, coordinate and execute the hosting of conference/NCAA championships
Coordinate ticket sales operations, including season and individual game sales, and game reconciliation reports for men’s and women’s basketball
Assist Associate AD/External Operations with planning and execution of special events, including alumni, fundraising or banquet events
Preparation and maintenance of athletic facilities as it relates to event operations while coordinating with university facilities management for field preparation, repairs, and scheduling
Management of capital projects and improvement including planning for the new Joan Perry Brock Convocation Center as it relates to game day operations
Develop short and long-term maintenance plans for athletics facilities
Oversight of corporate sponsorship fulfillment as it relates to facilities
Maintains highest standard of excellence and customer service for all services
Accomplishes staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures
Maintains customer response operations by establishing work schedules; assigning employees; providing back-up
Maintains work process flows by coordinating information and requirements with related operational departments
Keeps management informed by preparing reports; making presentations; interpreting information; making recommendations
Other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s Degree is required; Master’s Degree preferred
