Under the direction of the Vice President of Athletics, the Associate Athletic Director provides leadership in the areas of leadership development, Title IX and sport oversight.
-Serves on the Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics’ Executive Team and participates in the administrative process for determining and working toward the goals outlined in the division’s strategic plan, Drive to 25.
-Supervises between three and seven staff members.
-Serves as the sports administrator for multiple sports as assigned. -Oversees and manages at least one of the division’s business unit--business and finance, academic services, facilities and events, and/or marketing and communications. -Assists supervised unit and sports programs with preparation of annual operating budgets and ensures compliance with the approved budget plan. -Disseminates important division, campus, conference and NCAA information to all staff and members of the Executive Team. -Prepares contest contracts for supervised sports and ensures compliance. -Oversees the coordination of officiating assignments for all supervised sports. -Prepares, in cooperation with the Athletics Business Office, the annual Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act report and ensures timely submission. -Ensures supervised sport programs are in compliance with the principles of awarding athletics grants-in-aid, recruiting expenditures, and roster size in relation to the university’s equity initiatives. -Serves as the communication contact for issues pertaining to supervised sports (i.e. parents, media, campus, conference, etc.). -Travels to at least one away contest with each supervised program/sport each year. -Works with the Office of Diversity and Student Engagement to ensure that Winthrop Athletics continues its position as a leader within the NCAA for diversity and inclusion. -Works with the Office of the President, University Chief of Staff, and Faculty Athletics Representative to maintain compliance with Title IX and the division’s Gender Equity report. -For the right candidate, serves as the division’s Senior Woman Administrator.
Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree preferred. Three to five years of progressive leadership in intercollegiate athletics required. Experience in personnel oversight highly desired. Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, and computer skills. Demonstrated record of success in advocating for an elite student-athlete experience. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and coaches. Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as needed
