The Academic Support Program for Student-Athletes at North Carolina State University supports the recruitment, retention and graduation of NC State student-athletes by providing a comprehensive support system that affords student-athletes equitable opportunity to pursue academic, personal, and professional development while strongly adhering to the principles of integrity, excellence, and lifelong learning.
Responsibilities for the Academic Coordinator include but are not limited to developing and implementing programs and activities for assisting and monitoring academic progress toward degree for assigned sports, providing academic support, collaborating with other staff members to support students, serving on or leading unit committees, and serving as a liaison to other campus support organizations. Additionally, Academic Coordinator will need to interpret and apply NCAA, NC State and ASPSA policies and procedures. Academic Coordinator will teach seminar courses for first-year student-athletes.
Monitoring academic progress and eligibility for Men's Basketball and an Olypmic sport
Meeting weekly with freshmen/at-risk student-athletes on assigned teams
Overseeing structured academic environment for assigned teams
Acting as primary academic advisor of Exploratory Studies student-athletes on assigned teams
Assisting in recruiting process of student-athletes
Communication of academic updates to coaches/athletic administrators
Master’s degree in education, counseling, student affairs or related field
Require minimum of one year of full-time experience in the field of academic support for student-athletes
Experience working with a culturally diverse population and a working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
Preferred: 1-3 years of experience advising student-athletes at the university level with a demonstrated ability to interact with students on a variety of issues
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm, regular nights/weekends
