Varsity Performance Sport is a unit within within Vikes Athletics and Recreation and the larger division of Student Affairs at the University of Victoria. Varsity Performance Sport builds on the Vikes’ rich athletic tradition of excellence, including numerous national championship titles, and an ongoing and deep commitment to providing a supportive high-performance environment for student-athletes pursuing athletic excellence and academic distinction. This is reflected in the program and cultural goals allowing athletes and coaches to aspire to the highest levels of national and international sport standards in a safe environment. The Varsity Performance Sport Program is responsible for the development, implementation, assessment and strategic management of varsity sport, team and athlete-specific programs for soccer, rugby, basketball, field-hockey, cross country/track, rowing, swimming and golf; student-athlete programs and the Club Sport Program. Additionally, Varsity Performance Sport provides student-athlete supports, resources and leadership; coaching support, education and development; student-athlete academic and sport compliance; and leads varsity scholarship development, oversees the UVic Sports Injury Clinic, and adjudication, Vikes alumni engagement, partnership development and provides leadership on sport governance matters. Reporting to the Director, Varsity Performance Sport (the Director), the Associate Director, Sport Compliance and Student Support contributes to the ongoing growth and development of the varsity and sport club programs through specific areas of accountability, helping the University continue to meet the evolving needs of the student athlete experience. |
