Western Colorado University invites applications for the position of Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Operations and Compliance. This position may also serve as the Senior Woman Administrator.

Responsibilities:  The position of Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Operations and Compliance will report directly to the Director of Athletics and will serve as a senior member of the athletic administrative team. This position will be responsible for the strict compliance of the athletic department to National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) rules and policies. The position will develop processes and procedures to insure athletic department compliance with the NCAA and RMAC rules. This position has primary responsibility to supervise coaches and staff regarding NCAA and RMAC rules compliance and working knowledge of NCAA Compliance Assistant (CA), LSDBi and the Eligibility Center. The position will also serve as the main point of contact for our automated recruiting and compliance software (ARMS) including workflow and system issues, updating and maintaining ARMS software and monitor the recordkeeping of recruiting activities of the coaching staff ensuring compliance with NCAA rules and regulations.  Also will manage ARMS software processes such as creating, maintaining and updating all workflows, review data for accuracy, review processes, identify areas of improvement, coordinating and facilitate training session for employees and student-athletes on the use. The position will act as a liaison between the Faculty Athletic Representative and Western Athletic Compliance team in all academic eligibility issues. This position will provide direct supervision for game management and promotional activities in conjunction with the Director of Athletics.

Requires additional work with athletic contests as well as some evening and weekend work along with some overnight travel.

This person shall contribute to the effective team management of all relevant problems, issues and opportunities. This job description shall include, but is not necessarily limited to, the above duties. May temporarily perform other duties assigned to maintain operations and services. Dependent upon qualifications and experience the Assistant Athletics Director for Internal Operations and Compliance may also serve as the Title IX deputy for the athletics department as well other appropriate titles.

This position will be expected to acquire and maintain a significant working knowledge of the rules and regulations set forth by the NCAA, the RMAC and Western Colorado University as well as be able to adhere to those same rules and regulations.

Compensation:  This is a full-time, twelve-month position with an initial salary range of $58,000-$60,000. Position is eligible for an excellent benefits package including health and dental insurance plans with low co-pays and low out of pocket maximums, generous paid time off, a shared contribution retirement plan and, following one year of employment, tuition benefits.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in related field. Minimum of at least one year in NCAA administration or compliance. Experience working efficiently with student-athletes, coaches and officials. Minimum of one year overseeing support staff. Preferred Qualifications:  Master’s degree in a related field. Three or more years in NCAA administration or compliance. Working knowledge of NCAA Compliance Assistant (CA), LSDBi and the Eligibility Center. Previous experience serving as the chief compliance officer at an NCAA DII institution. Three or more years overseeing support or professional staff. Three or more years of managing a team, department or equivalent organization’s budget. Working knowledge of Banner and Arms. Proficient in computer software including Microsoft Office suite, Customer Relationship Management (CRM), etc.
