The University of Virginia is seeking candidates for the position of Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance. This position has responsibility for ensuring compliance with NCAA, ACC and UVA rules and regulations. The incumbent is a member of a team responsible for leading an intercollegiate athletics program that supports 27 sport programs and approximately 750 student-athletes.

The Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance is responsible for work required to comply with all NCAA, ACC and University rules and regulations. The incumbent provides pertinent and timely compliance information to various internal and external constituencies, responding to questions and interpreting regulations when necessary. The incumbent will also assist with other compliance duties that support the overall objectives of the compliance program.

The Assistant AD for Compliance routinely analyzes situations, provides interpretation, identifies recommendations, initiates action, and provides guidance on all matters pertaining to their duties. They frequently coordinate meetings, disseminate information, and provide instruction to various internal and external constituencies. The Assistant AD for Compliance monitors processes and systems to ensure compliance with rules and regulations; uses initiative and experience to resolve issues pertaining to the comprehensive compliance program; and works closely with individuals and groups in an effort to build relationships and promote the compliance program. They are accountable for NCAA, ACC and University rules and regulations and submitting documentation as required by governing bodies and work under general supervision and reports to the Associate Athletics Director for Governance & Regulatory Affairs.

Job duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• NCAA Governance – Monitor, analyze and educate relevant stakeholders about pending NCAA proposals. 
• Rules Education – Provide education to internal and external stakeholders.
• Violations, Waivers & Reinstatements – Investigate allegations.  Prepare violation reports, waivers, and reinstatements.  
• APR, GSR & NCAA Required Reports – Manage and submit APR, GSR and NCAA required reports.
• State & Federal Laws – Monitor and analyze state and federal legislative activity that impacts college athletics.
• Title IX & Roster Management – Ensure teams are complying with Title IX related issues. 
• Name, Image & Likeness Program – Assist with the management and oversight of the name, image and likeness program.
• Alston Funds – Monitor the distribution of Alston related funds. 
• Elite Athletes – Monitor and work with issues associated with elite athletes.  
• Primary Contact for Several Teams –Office responsibilities are primarily assigned by sport. Responsibility includes managing all aspects of compliance for 5-7 sports and being the secondary contact for other teams. 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's degree. Juris Doctor or Relevant Master’s Degree is preferred.

Experience: Four years of relevant experience.

Knowledge: NCAA rules and regulations. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Knowledge of procedures to monitor and enforce rules and regulations.

Skills/abilities: Ability and desire to perform accurate, detail-oriented work, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor. Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and sound judgments. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Licensure: Subject matter licensure may be required.
