The Assistant AD for Annual Giving / Associate Director of Athletics Advancement is an important role on the Athletics Development team at William & Mary. Athletics fundraising at William & Mary is responsible for the leadership & strategy of private philanthropy to benefit athletics programming at William & Mary. The athletics fundraising team is seated in two offices, University Advancement and William & Mary Athletics. The Associate Director of Athletics Advancement / Assistant Athletics Director for Annual Giving reports to the Executive Director of Athletics Advancement / Senior Associate Athletics Director for Advancement. Their primary responsibility is to plan, coordinate, implement, and manage the W&M Athletics annual giving program, with an emphasis on the acquisition and retention of donors, as well as administration and support of sport specific advisory boards and their annual giving pipelines.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and or experience.
• Understanding of philanthropy in higher education the impact it has on the future of higher education.
• Experience (typically 3+ years) managing and developing communications plans for members, constituents, clients, or customers. Examples include outside sales, marketing or public relations, financial planning or wealth management, admissions or enrollment, and membership development, as well as academic fundraising or alumni engagement.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills with fluency in using persuasive language to promote visionary opportunities.
• An entrepreneurial spirit, independence and ability to work effectively and successfully with minimal supervision and collaborate while building consensus among colleagues and manage complex priorities and projects concurrently.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusiveness, including, but not limited to, collaboration, staffing and programming.
