This position will serve as the secondary contact for the Texan Football program, as well as the primary contact for the women’s basketball, beach volleyball and men’s golf programs. This position will be responsible for writing news releases, feature stories and biographical information; in-game statistics; publishing information on the athletic department website; creating graphics, video and messaging for social media posts; editing and designing game programs and other athletics department publications; leadership and management of student interns and graduate assistants; assisting with press box accommodations; compiling and archiving statistics, records, photography and other information and nominating student-athletes, coaches and teams for awards; assisting with productions, administrative duties for home events and other duties as assigned. Ability to travel with select teams will be required.
Tarleton State University is located in Stephenville, Texas and is a member of NCAA Division I and the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).
Full time 12-month position reporting directly to the Sr. Associate Athletic Director for Communications. This position requires work beyond normal business hours, weekends, and holidays. Normal work hours are Monday-Friday 8 am - 5 pm. The Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations must be able to work after hours, weekends, and holidays and must be able to work remotely at the request of the University.
Excellent communication skills including strong media writing ability and knowledge of AP style; Ability to organize, prioritize and schedule work assignments; Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop; Graphic design/illustration skills; Competent in social media platforms and strategy with experience managing multiple channels; Understanding of football, basketball, volleyball, golf and athletic terminology; Experience with NCAA Live Stats and/or StatCrew; Managerial experience
