POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Director of Sport Administration and Championships is a key member of the overall management and administration of the conference’s Olympic Sport initiatives and programs. The Assistant Director will focus on regular season and conference championship operational policies, implementation and execution of conference championships and events, along with interpretation of conference and NCAA governing policies and procedures. The Assistant Director will be the lead conference liaison to select conference sports and sport committees while assisting in secondary operational roles in other sports.

- Location: Position is based in Irving, Texas
- Travel: Regular travel required, including nights and weekends during peak seasons and championships
- Supervisory scope: Individual contributor role; may supervise interns assigned

- Reports to: Associate Commissioner for Sport Administration and Championships
- Key partners: Conference staff; member institution coaching staffs; sport administrators; senior woman administrators; home game day administrators; directors of operations; officials assignors
THE ROLE AND CANDIDATE PROFILE The conference seeks an event operations professional with strong organizational and communication skills. The ideal candidate brings one to three years of practical experience in sport administration or event/team operations. This candidate must demonstrate confidence in crisis readiness, including scenario planning, approval discipline, and execute championship caliber events that benefit the membership. The ideal candidate must be able to multitask, and problem solve under a stressful environment while providing solutions that benefit the championship experience while ensuring NCAA and Conference polices are maintained. The role requires some travel, night and weekend work.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the conference liaison to select Olympic Sports under the supervision of the Associate Commissioner for Sport Administration and Championships.
- Administrate and provide on-site supervision for select Olympic Sport Conference Championships.
- Facilitate all elements of championship operations including host facility and hotel contract negotiations, officiating, medical, merchandising, ticket sales and awards.
- Produce select Olympic Sport policy manuals and provide regular analysis and interpretation for policies and procedures.
- Coordinate meeting agendas and process sport committee recommendations through the conference’s governance structure.
- Assist in the creation of select regular season conference schedules.
- Provide administrative and operational support to select official coordinators.
- Responsible for the preparation of select Olympic Sport budgets and the management of costs to meet projected estimates while ensuring quality championship experience is provided to the membership.
- Monitor current NCAA trends in Olympic Sports related to RPI, data analysis, potential changes to playing rules, championship date formulas and formats, and championship site specifications.
- Responsible for tracking end of the season standings and seeding scenarios and coordinating the distribution of regular season awards.
- Serve as part of the men’s and women’s basketball championship operations team.
- Work collaboratively with the conference’s communication and social media teams.
- Additional duties involving other conference programs and/or working with other conference constituent groups may be assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in athletic administration or a related field required.
- One to three years of experience in sport administration or event/team operations.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines.Outstanding written and verbal communications skills.
- Extensive computer knowledge along with strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain punctual attendance and timely correspondence.
